Dr.Chris Brown
Provide detail of your pet's physical characteristics:
Rich red/brown in colour with light tan eyebrows. Slim, toned body condition. Just like the simple life he leads, he carries no more weight than is necessary for his day-to-day life! He also only has half a tail. The lower half was lost in an accident with a tractor when he was a pup, about a year before he came into my world.

Provide detail of your pet's personal characteristics:
His school report, if he ever had one, would read shows great potential yet fails to push himself, instead opting for the easy way out. Yes, this kelpie is as far from being a 'working-dog' as possible. While we humans look for a relaxing holiday in the country to get away from the stresses of city-life, "Rusty" has instead found that 'city-living' is where the life of leisure lies.
Special talent: Weeing on every telegraph pole, tree, rock, blade of grass and grain of sand on his normal walking track.

What problem/situation have you overcome that you'd like to share?
When I rescued him from the neighbouring farm to ours, he might have seemed lonely, but he certainly wasn't alone. He was absolutely full of worms. He was also skinny to the point that his ribcage was poking through his dusty red coat. He was thin to the point that his chest had taken on the look of the rusty corrugated iron shed he used to call home.

What was the solution:
Drastic action was needed not just to make him look lively, but to keep him alive. We immediately wormed him and put him on a diet of Purina ONE. Within weeks, the coat shone along with his personality. Rusty had discovered a new found interest and happiness with his new life. He was well and truly alive. And over time those corrugations have flattened out too! It's more of a toned and flat rendered wall now! Now, when he's not sleeping, he runs with so much intent that he's almost taken two steps before one foot has even hit the ground. Yep, it's all or nothing for Rusty!

What advice do you have for other pet owners:
Pets are what they eat. If they eat well, the signs of good health are there for you to see and for them to enjoy. They will feel better, look livelier and live longer!

Any other anecdotes:
Despite Rusty having a childhood where food was scarce I have never seen a dog that eats more slowly than Rusty. In a bowl of kibble, each biscuit is picked up, tasted, chewed and swallowed individually. Its sort of like painting the Harbour Bridge. By the time he's finished one meal, its almost time to start again with the next one. He treasures every biscuit and every bowl he receives. Indigestion isn't something were likely to be treating any time soon.
